Poor handwriting on the other hand, can cause low self-esteem and triggers loss of confidence.
Attention needs to be given to teaching handwriting especially in the Primary classes. This can benefit many youngsters including those with learning, reading and writing disabilities. Handwriting skills bear a positive correlation to reading and comprehending skills. It is an integral component of the Exam System and hence being able to write fast and legibly is a big positive trait for a student.
One of the primary advantages of a good handwriting is that it helps to convey ideas clearly, improves memory, concentration and accountability. It also contributes to reading fluency as it activates visual perception. When students writes something then it helps them to remember it thereby allowing them to retain information. This process encourages pupils to expand their thoughts and develop a creative expression as well.
Investing 10 to 15 minutes daily may prove to be very beneficial in the long run as it gives students a sense of happiness because of the appreciation they get for their good handwriting.
